The Dalmally Show
4th September 2010 The Dalmally Agricultural Show is an annual event, which takes place on the first Saturday of September. There are a number of competitions and demonstrations including traditional baking, stock and home industries. There are two shinty competitions and the day ends with a dance in the Mart from 10pm.
The stock area has the largest Highland Cattle section after the Royal Highland Show. Other livestock sections include sheep and poultry.
Traditionally known as the ladies’ section, the Industrial Section is now entered by men and women wishing to show their talents in baking. The seventeen classes range from the traditional – oatcakes, pancakes, scones, clootie dumpling – to the less traditional.
The Home Industries marquee has classes for various handicrafts, including knitting, sewing, embroidery, tapestry, patchwork, card work. The Horticulture Section has wonderful displays of vegetables and flowers – all home grown by, mostly, local exhibitors.
Local craftspeople and charities also have demonstrations and exhibitions and there are a range of agricultural trade stands.
