A visit to the basement at Inveraray Castle reveals the antiquated methods of cooking once used in the Old Kitchen.
Last used as a proper working kitchen by the Duke's grandmother, Duchess Louise in the 1950's, it provides a fascinating insight into life 'below stairs' in a grand Scottish Castle.
The basement also houses the excellent Tearoom, offering a wide selection of delicious snacks and refreshments to sustain you throughout your visit. The Castle Gift Shop is full of unusual souvenirs and mementos, many personally commissioned by the Dowager Duchess especially for visitors. |
