The ground floor at Inveraray Castle provides visitors with a fascinating historical insight into one of Scotland's most famous ancestral homes.
The modest yet intriguing Entrance Hall misleads visitors of the grandeur which lies in store and on entering the State Dining Room, they are often taken aback by the oppulence of the interior. Further exploration leads to the French influenced Tapestry Drawing Room with original Beauvais tapestry wall hangings. A concealed door leads to an exquisite display Oriental and European porcelain in the China Turret.
The Castle tour then routes back through the Entrance Hall leading to the magnificent Armoury Hall where visitors can marvel at the vast array of arms on display and immerse themselves in the displays of artefacts before moving on to viewing the remarkable collection of fine paintings in the Saloon.
Access to the Basement and First floor is provided through the Northwest Hall and Staircase where yet more relics and objet d'art are on display. |
